Cleaning in the library. Art magic.

"Stay where you are!" I said to Katerina, whom I caught reading as she came to dust the library shelves. "Can you just put the duster under your arm?" She did. This was not a chance to be lost. Katerina, our bookloving cleaning lady and library member, took the same stance with the Paxton maid, a painting of the early 1900s. Leaving the dreary work aside for just a glimpse at a good book, just enough to start dreaming yourself into a better world.

The Library Redecoration Month just couldn't kick off without a good cleaning!

Το μέλος της βιβλιοθήκης μας και ο άνθρωπος που καθαρίζει τον χώρο μας σαν να ήταν δικός του, η Κατερίνα, θύμισε τον πίνακα του Πάξτον με την κοπέλα που αφήνει τις δουλειές για λίγη μαγεία από τα βιβλία. Το μόνο που ζήτησα ήταν να αλλάξει την θέση του φτερού. Θαυμάστε την σύμπτωση!

We followed Lublin's example and started imitating Reading Women in Art. This is  René Magritte's painting, edited by the student herself as were the following ones. What can possibly account for the reader's expression?

Προσπαθήστε να μαντέψετε τι διαβάζει η γυναίκα και έχει αυτό το ύφος! Ο πίνακας είναι του Βέλγου σουρρεαλιστή ζωγράφου Ρενέ Μαγκρίτ (1898-1967). Διαλέξαμε να τον μιμηθούμε, γιατί η μαθήτριά μας φορούσε τα ίδια ρούχα κατά τύχη! Δική της και η επεξεργασία της φωτογραφίας.

Magical reading garden.

"Το βιβλίο είναι ένας κήπος που μεταφέρεις στην τσέπη σου". Πόσοι πίνακες απεικονίζουν αναγνώστες αφοσιωμένους στις σελίδες του αγαπημένου τους βιβλίου ή την στιγμή του στοχασμού επάνω σε ό,τι διάβασαν. Η ομορφιά της αναγνώστριας είναι το θέμα του ημερολογίου μας που ετοιμάζεται και οι βιβλιοθήκες μας αυτή την εποχή μεταμορφώθηκαν σε κήπους ανάγνωσης.





Art and books inspire readers. Every woman likes reading in the garden. You can see it in presented photos and painting. Art shows and teaches us too that time isn't important and that it connects people.Our photo shoot was a nice experience, and we all enjoyed ourselves enormously. Try to say :

"A book is like a garden carried in a pocket" (Chinese proverb).For keen readers is so beautiful like a favorite flower, for those who don't like reading is like a cactus.

Little library friend

Our little library friend is a dwarf. He comes from different Polish city. This time he lives in Lublin. The dwarf is the best reader in the library. He is called Booklover and he is very smart and prudent. We know him such an intellectual and a multilingual person. Sometimes he helps pupils to study but not everybody can meet him. You should respect books and from time to time you should to look for him beetwen books in the library.

Watch the little library friend move in the Bogatynia school library. He seems a booklover, don't you think?

Maybe he can find a twinner in the partner libraries soon!

We even made the littelest Pin(ia) compared to a pin. Φανταστείτε πόσο μικρή είναι αυτή η Πίνια, η μασκώτ της βιβλιοθήκης!

Bookraft new(s), old collections, and a mystery lady

Speaking of old books, let us tell you a real story about the oldest book in our school library. It is a dictionary of 1861 belonging to the family of Katina (Catherine) Laskaridi aka “Arria Claudia” a minor author of some books, born in Constantinople to a wealthy family. An ardent reader, a polyglot and a traveler, we tried to reconstruct her personality though the books she read, the notices left inside, the writings on the margins. After travelling around the globe, losing her one and only love, she settled in Greece with her sister. She died at the age of 93, childless. We like to think we have our very own “library grandma” whose books we treasure. Her memory lives on in our library.

Η Ελληνική ομάδα του Bookraft είχε λάβει από την αρχή της χρονιάς ήδη έναν θησαυρό. Η συλλογή βιβλίων μίας γυναίκας η οποία δεν είχε κάποιον κοντινό άνθρωπο στη ζωή της, έφτασε στα χέρια μας μέσω γνωστών. Η συγγραφέας Κατίνα Λασκαρίδη με το ψευδώνυμο «Άρρια Κλώντια», η οποία καταγόταν από την Κων/πολη από ευκατάστατη οικογένεια, αφού γύρισε όλο τον κόσμο και συνέλεξε βιβλία από πολλές χώρες, αφού έμαθε ένα σωρό ξένες γλώσσες και αφού έχασε τον έρωτα της ζωής της, κατέληξε πίσω στην μητέρα Ελλάδα. Πέθανε σε ηλικία 93 ετών. Δεν παντρεύτηκε ποτέ. Το παλαιότερο βιβλίο της που βρήκαμε ήταν ένα λεξικό του 1861 που ανήκε στον πατέρα της, το οποίο αποτελεί πλέον και το παλαιότερο βιβλίο της βιβλιοθήκης μας. Γνωρίσαμε αυτή την γυναίκα μέσα από τα βιβλία της, συγκινηθήκαμε με τα ποιήματά της αφιερωμένα στον αδικοχαμένο παιδικό της έρωτα, αισθανθήκαμε την αίγλη του πνεύματός της και πλέον, νοιώθουμε παιδιά της.
